BJP vs Congress: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the Congress has been "badly exposed" before the people as it made electoral promises that it itself thought it would never be able to fulfill. The Prime Minister was referring to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's advice that his party's state units should make only those promises that are financially feasible.
PM Modi attacked Congress in this manner.
PM Modi said that Congress has now started realizing that it is easy to make false promises in elections, but it is impossible to implement them properly. Along with this, he also called upon the countrymen to be cautious of the 'culture of unrealistic promises' of the main opposition party. In a series of posts on the social media platform 'X', Modi said, 'The people of the country have to be cautious of the culture of unrealistic promises sponsored by the Congress! We recently saw how the people of Haryana rejected their lies and preferred a government that is stable, progress-oriented, and working.'
'Congress has been badly exposed in front of the people'
He said, 'The Congress party is realizing that it is easy to make false promises, but it is difficult or impossible to implement them properly. While campaigning election after election, they promise people things that they know they will never be able to fulfill. Now, they have been badly exposed in front of the people!' In fact, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar had recently said that the government will reconsider the 'Shakti' scheme, as some women have expressed their willingness to pay for travel in government buses. Under this guarantee of the Congress government of the state, women are provided the facility of free bus travel.
Why did Kharge take a dig at Shivkumar's statement?
Mallikarjun Kharge had taken a jibe at DK Shivakumar's statement and said, 'You have given some guarantees. After seeing them, I too had said in Maharashtra that there are five guarantees in Karnataka. Now you (Shivakumar) said that you will leave one guarantee.' The Congress President had also said that whatever Shivakumar has said has allowed the BJP (to corner the Congress). Kharge's statement was seen in the context that some Congress-ruled states are facing financial constraints to fulfill the electoral guarantees and the Congress is accepting this.
'Wherever there is a Congress government, people are betrayed horribly'
The Prime Minister said that wherever there are Congress governments today, be it in Himachal Pradesh or Karnataka or Telangana, the development and fiscal situation is going from bad to worse. He said, 'Their so-called guarantees have not been fulfilled, which is a terrible betrayal of the people of these states. The victims of such politics are the poor, the youth, farmers, and women, who are not only denied the benefits of these promises, but the existing schemes for them are also weakened.'
'People of India want development, not the old false promises of Congress'
Modi said that in Karnataka, the Congress is busy with "internal politics and loot" instead of caring about development. Not only this, he claimed, they are also going to withdraw the existing schemes. Prime Minister Modi said that in Himachal Pradesh, the salaries of government employees are not paid on time and in Telangana, farmers are waiting for the promised loan waiver.
He also referred to some of the Congress' election promises related to salaries and allowances in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan and said that these were never implemented in five years. He said, "There are many such examples of how the Congress works. There is a growing feeling across India that voting for the Congress is voting for bad governance, bad economics, and unprecedented loot. The people of India want development and progress, not the same old false promises of the Congress!"
