Chennai: Nikhil Kumar's unbeaten half-century helped the India Under 19 team beat the Australia Under 19 team by two wickets on the third day of the first unofficial Test. Coming in at number seven, Kumar made an unbeaten 55 off 71 balls to help India win in the last hour. Earlier, leg-spinner Mohammad Inan took 6 wickets for 79 runs as Australia were restricted to 214 in their second innings. Australia resumed at 110 for 4.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi failed in the second innings.

Chasing a target of 212 runs to win, India suffered an early blow when Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who had scored a century in the first innings, was dismissed for a single run in the second over. Australia's decision to hand the new ball to off-spinner Thomas Brown proved to be correct as he had Suryavanshi caught by Simon Brown behind the wicket.

India lost 4 wickets for 113 runs.

After this, Aiden O'Connor took the return catch of Vihaan Malhotra. India's score at this time was 25 runs for two wickets. Nitya Pandya (51 off 86 balls) and KP Karthikeya (36 off 52 balls) then made a partnership of 71 runs. However, both of them were sent to the pavilion by leg spinner Vishwa Ramkumar when India's score was 113 runs for four wickets.

Samarth Nagaraj and Abhimanyu Kundu brought victory.

O'Connor then dismissed Soham Patwardhan as well. After five wickets fell, Kumar and wicketkeeper Abhimanyu Kundu (23 off 52 balls) took the score past 150. O'Connor had Kundu caught behind while Ramkumar bowled Inan. Player of the Match Kumar was joined by Samarth Nagaraj (19 off 34 balls) and the duo shared a match-winning 47-run stand for the eighth wicket.
