Varun Dhawan while talking to the media said, 'Once I was playing badminton with Aditya Chopra. Then I asked him why he doesn't make a big action entertainer with me. At first, Aditya Chopra kept avoiding the topic and when I kept pestering him, he told me that look, Varun, you are not at that stage right now where we can plan a big action film with you. When I asked him about the budget, he told me a number.'

Varun further said, 'When the offer of Citadel came to me, I asked the makers about the budget because I was not sure that Amazon could plan a big action web series with me. Amazon told me the budget of the web series, after which I became a part of it.'
