Amid the Iran-Israel tension, US President Joe Biden has said something that can shock Israel and make Iran happy. The US has made it clear that if Israel attacks Iran's nuclear sites, it will not support it.

Earlier, US President Joe Biden said that the US "fully supports" Israel and is in "active discussions" with allies about the appropriate response. Biden also praised the US and Israeli forces for thwarting Iran's missile attack. "Make no mistake, America is completely, fully with Israel," Biden said on Tuesday at the start of a meeting with White House officials.

Joe Biden has said he would not support any Israeli attack on sites related to Iran's nuclear program. When asked on Wednesday if he would support such a retaliatory action after Iran fired nearly 180 missiles at Israel on Tuesday, Biden said, "The answer is no."

Preparations underway for new sanctions on Iran

Biden's remarks came after he and other G-7 leaders discussed coordinating new sanctions against Iran by phone on Wednesday. The White House said in a statement that the G-7 leaders "unequivocally condemned Iran's attack on Israel" and Biden reiterated the US' "full solidarity and support for Israel and its people". Meanwhile, the US administration has indicated that it has urged Israel to exercise restraint in responding to Tuesday's missile attack.
