Arctic Open 2024: India's star badminton player Lakshya Sen was knocked out of the Arctic Open badminton tournament on Thursday after losing a one-game lead to Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei in the pre-quarterfinals. The 23-year-old Indian fought hard for one hour and 10 minutes but lost 21-19 18-21 15-21 to the seventh seed in the second round of the Super 500 tournament.
It was a bad day for India as all the country's players were eliminated in the second round. Indian qualifier Kiran George lost 17-21 8-21 to fifth seed Jonatan Christie of Indonesia in the men's singles event. Malvika Bansod lost 15-21 8-21 to Ratchanok Intanon in the women's singles event.
Unnati Hooda and Aakarshi Kashyap lost their Round of 16 matches. Unnati lost to Canada's Michelle Li 10-21 19-21 and Aakarshi lost to second seed Han Yue of China 9-21 8-21.
The mixed doubles pair of Satish Kumar Karunakaran and Adya Variyath lost to Cheng Jing and Zhang Chi 12-21 15-21. The women's doubles pair of Rutaparna Panda and Swetaparna Panda will face top seeds Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning.
