Former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden believes that hosts Australia will miss David Warner in the Border-Gavaskar series against India. Australia and India will play a 5-match Border-Gavaskar series later this year in which Warner will not be a part of the team. Warner, who scored 8786 runs in 112 Test matches for Australia at an average of around 45, recently announced his retirement from international cricket.

Matthew Hayden has also predicted a fierce contest between Virat Kohli and Steve Smith. He said during the CEAT Cricket Rating Awards that Virat and Smith will be eager to dominate the upcoming Border-Gavaskar series. Considered one of the best openers of his era, Hayden said that both Kohli and Smith like to dominate in their own way and they will play an important role in deciding how the series will turn out in Australia.

Hayden expects a great series

India and Australia will play a five-Test series for the first time since 1991-92 and Hayden said it would be difficult to decide which team has the edge. He said that after looking at the lineup, it is difficult to tell which team has the upper hand. He said that the biggest difference between the two will be of runs.

Hayden expects the five-Test series against India to be more exciting than a three or four-Test series. He said that the series being extended to five Test matches has made it even more special. He said that a three-Test series seems incomplete while four Test matches have ups and downs while there is a chance to win in five Test matches. This series is going to be great.

Test series will start from Perth

It is worth noting that a 5 match test series is to be organized between India and Australia for the first time since 1991-92. The first test match will be played in Perth on November 22. After this, both the teams will face each other in the second test on December 6. The third test will be played from December 14 and the fourth test will be played in Melbourne from December 26. The last and 5th test match of the series will be played at Sydney Cricket Ground from January 3.
