In a major escalation of violence, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for an attack on a Pakistani military convoy, allegedly killing 90 soldiers in southwestern Balochistan on Sunday.

According to reports, a roadside bomb targeted a bus carrying security personnel along the RCD Highway in Noshki, a district in Balochistan.

“The Majeed Brigade, the Fidayee unit of the Baloch Liberation Army, targeted a convoy of the occupying Pakistani military a few hours ago in a VBIED Fidayee attack near Rakhshan Mill on the RCD Highway in Noshki. The convoy consisted of eight buses, one of which was completely destroyed in the explosion,” the BLA said in a statement.

Location: Noshki, Balochistan
Casualties: 90 Pakistani soldiers (as per BLA claims)
Mode of Attack: Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED)

Local police chief Zafar Zamanani confirmed the explosion and said that several buses were damaged, with dead and injured personnel transported to nearby hospitals.

Balochistan CM Condemns Attack Amid Rising Violence

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has condemned the attack, which comes just days after another high-profile attack by the BLA—the hijacking of a passenger train carrying hundreds of people.

BLA's Train Hijacking Incident: 400 Hostages Taken, Over 200 Claimed Killed

Days before the convoy attack, the BLA ambushed the Jaffar Express, a train traveling from Quetta to Peshawar, and took 400 passengers hostage.

The attack took place between Gudalaar and Piru Koneri in a tunnel.
The BLA later claimed to have killed 214 hostages.
Pakistani authorities, however, stated that 33 attackers were killed and that hostages were rescued.

Why is Balochistan a Conflict Zone?

Balochistan is Pakistan’s largest but least populated province, rich in oil and minerals.

Ethnic Balochs have long accused Islamabad of discrimination, alleging that the region’s resources are exploited while locals remain impoverished.

The BLA, an armed separatist group, has been fighting for independence from Pakistan for decades, carrying out frequent attacks on security forces and infrastructure.

What’s Next?

With back-to-back attacks, tensions in Balochistan have reached a boiling point. The Pakistani military is expected to launch a large-scale crackdown, while the BLA continues to escalate its operations.

If BLA’s claims are confirmed, this attack would mark one of the deadliest assaults on Pakistan’s security forces in recent years.
