Recruitment for 'Group A' and 'B' posts will be done through a combined (preliminary) competitive exam. Around five lakh candidates are expected to appear for the exam to be held at 925 centres in the state. "It was already extended from October 18 (original date) to November 4. More than 4.83 lakh candidates have already applied for the exam. This will be unfair to those candidates who have already applied," the chairman said.

He said, "All preparations have been made for the exam. Around 30,000 CCTV cameras and jammers have already been installed at the centres." The chairman said, "Let me make it clear that there was no technical problem in the BPSC server. When the last date was extended from October 18 to November 4, around 1.40 lakh more students had applied for the exam during the extended period. There was no server-related problem for them."

He said that if the exam date is extended, it will be postponed to April-May 2025, which will delay the entire process by 5-6 months. He said, "We will not be able to secure exam centres, invigilators or other necessary arrangements from January 2025 to March 2025, as many other exams including class 10, 11, 12 final exams and other competitive exams are already scheduled."
