BSP Leader Expelled : Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati on Friday expelled senior leader Surendra Sagar from the party for allegedly arranging his son's marriage with the daughter of SP MLA from Alapur assembly seat. BSP says Sagar was involved in anti-party activities and indiscipline, but Sagar denied it and said, "I have not done anything like that. I have just fixed my son's marriage with the daughter of SP MLA Tribhuvan Dutt."
Akhilesh also attended the wedding ceremony.
Rampur BSP district unit president Pramod Sagar, who attended the wedding ceremony in Ambedkar Nagar on November 28, has also been removed from the post and a show cause notice has been issued. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav had gone to Ambedkar Nagar to bless the newlywed couple. BSP leaders Surendra Sagar and Pramod Sagar also accompanied the SP chief on this occasion. After Akhilesh Yadav's photo with senior BSP leaders went viral on social media, an order was issued by the BSP office to take action against the party leaders.
According to media reports, a senior BSP leader confirmed the action against Surendra Sagar and Pramod Sagar and said that action has been taken against both of them on charges of indiscipline and anti-party activities. He said, the differences between the ideologies of BSP and SP are clear. The party leaders and workers are aware of the rules of our cadre-based party, yet both the leaders violated them. The presence of top SP leaders at the wedding ceremony was turned into a big event by both of them.
The expelled leaders said, there was no indiscipline
However, Surendra Sagar and Pramod Sagar said that they had not violated party rules and had not committed any indiscipline. In November, the BSP chief had expelled West UP divisional in-charge Prashant Gautam and half a dozen officials for attending the wedding of former BSP state unit president Munqad Ali's son with the daughter of an SP leader.
BSP chief Mayawati tweeted on Friday, "Party members were prevented from attending Munqad Ali's son's ceremony because his daughter was contesting the assembly by-election from Meerapur on SP ticket and BSP was also contesting this by-election. In such a situation, there was a common talk of clashes between people of both the parties at the wedding. To avoid this, the party was forced to take this step. But the way it is being publicized is not correct."
