A Bangladesh cricket fan was allegedly harassed in the stands on the first day of the second Test match being played here between India and Bangladesh, after which he was taken to a medical facility. However, there is no clarity about the cause of this incident. This fan was calling himself 'Super Fan Robby'. He was wearing a tiger costume at the time of this incident and was sitting in Stand C. At the same time, this fan is also being accused of abusing Indian cricketer Mohammad Siraj from the stands.
An official of the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association said Robbie could not tell the exact sequence of events but he was in pain. While speaking to the media, he indicated that he was punched in the stomach during the altercation.
"He was in pain when he came out of the stand. He was about to faint. He was given a chair to sit on but he fell down," the official said. A police official present at the stadium said the fan was given first aid and an ambulance was called for him.
"We don't know if he was hit by someone or not. There is a constable in that stand to keep an eye on the fans. We couldn't understand what he was saying. Maybe he was in pain," he said. "The ambulance took some time to arrive so the stadium's medical team took him to a nearby facility," the official said.
