Bank Holiday on Chhath Puja: After the end of Diwali, Govardhan Puja, Bhai Dooj festival, this week is the festival of Chhath. This festival lasts for four days. This year Chhath festival will start with Nahai Khay on November 5. Kharna will be on November 6, Sandhya Arghya on November 7, and Sunrise Arghya on November 8. On this occasion, banks are also closed in many states. This year, due to regional festivals like Chhath and RBI's list of holidays, bank branches in many states will remain closed for 4 consecutive days. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI)'s calendar list of bank holidays gives complete details of the states and the days when banks will be closed in the month of November 2024.

Bank Holiday: Banks will remain closed for 4 consecutive days in these states

  • November 7 (Thursday) Chhath Puja: Banks will remain closed in Bihar, Delhi, Jharkhand and West Bengal.
  • November 8 (Friday) Chhath Puja and Wangala Festival: Banks will remain closed in Bihar, Jharkhand, and Meghalaya.
  • November 9 (Saturday) Second Saturday: Banks closed across the country.
  • November 10 (Sunday): Weekly off at banks across the country.

Bank Holiday: Also you should keep in mind that banks will not be closed for all consecutive days in all states or regions. This is the total number of days when banks will be closed in different parts of the country for holidays observed by the state. For example in Bengaluru banks will be closed for Kanakadas Jayanti, but in Agartala, they will not be closed for the same reason.
