Kolkata: Weeping at the sentence of her son and remorsefully accepting the punishment she stands against her ‘shanty’ located in Shambhunath pandit street as a news broadcaster informs about her son, Sanjay Roy, being accused of raping and murdering a doctor in Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. She believed that he has committed a crime that deserves the utmost punishment possible.

The woman then added on by saying she would not seek support from anyone and rather state her reason as fate.” On Saturday, Sanjay Roy was found guilty in the case of rape and murder of a second year postgraduate student from Kolkata. The Sealdah court will announce the sentence on Monday 20th January.

Resembling the woman, Sanjay Roy’s sister has asked for the same punishment he got which is death sentence.

Roy's mother further added, "If that is the conclusion of the court, and him being sentenced to a hanging makes sense, I have no issues with that either. I myself will weep but it can be seen as pure coincidence or a fluke in the way some human willed this to be. "

When this interviewee was asked whether she sat in the court for the procedures, her response was: "No. Why should I? Despite the fact that my health is not particularly good, I would have made an effort to go had the allegations been baseless."

Yesterday, she disclosed to PTI, "I am a little old lady who is left all on her own. I do not exactly know what to do. All of you are his siblings. His character was never all that bad. I am certain his father would have been sad... I do not have any information."

Previously, one of Roy's three elder sisters, who resides at her husband’s place near Malati's residence said on regard to the above issue that it is better if the law was allowed to take its course with him and they will not appeal against the decision in any court, should he be found guilty.

“Please leave me alone. We are shattered,” she stated when approached by reporters and asked to comment further regarding the matter she is involved in.

“But, anything he has done illegal, he deserves to be punished for. We do not have any plans to file an appeal against the order from our side. I am residing with in laws now. Ever since getting married in 2007 I have not spoken to my family as my mother is sick,” she stated.

She continued, “He began drinking as he matured, but aside from that, I never heard any allegations against Sanjay for inappropriate behavior towards women. We lost touch with him for some years. He resided in another area. I have no knowledge about his friends and whether he had committed any crimes.”

She further claimed that some more names could be added to the list of accused in the ongoing investigation and that “they must also be apprehended and the investigation must be conducted.”

“After the arrest of Sanjay, we were being shamed and had to hear comments from neighbours and even relatives saying that we are related to Sanjay. I hope we are clearing the air now,” she further said.

The Sealdah Court in Kolkata sentenced Roy for the murder and 'r*-pe' of the female doctor that was on duty at the hospital. This incident,in essence, caused type of craziness across the nation and triggered stand-still protests; it occurred on Saturday, June 17 and was later decided it occurred over 162 days later than the specified date.

The arrest of Roy came about in on the 10th of August in the year 2024, following which hear under BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita): section 64 (rape), section 66 (death ), and murder section 103 (1) he was charged.
