Women's T20 World Cup : Jemimah Rodrigues believes that cohesion and maintaining the mindset of putting the team first will be important for India to realize their dream of winning their first International Cricket Council (ICC) title in the T20 World Cup starting here on Thursday. India, who reached the final of the Women's T20 World Cup 2020, will start their campaign against New Zealand on October 4 in the ninth season of the tournament.

Jemima, who scored 52 runs in the first practice match against West Indies, told 'Star Sports', "For me, it is all about assessing the conditions and playing according to the situation. I want to keep it simple and do whatever it takes to help the team win."

She said, "When I see things from that perspective, it helps me perform at my best and motivates me. For me, when it comes to the team, I go out on the field and give my life. This makes me more emotional, energetic, and enthusiastic. I want Team India to win. We, as a unit, want to see Team India win."

The 24-year-old from Mumbai emphasized the importance of playing according to the situation regardless of the bowler's prowess. Jemima said, "For me, it is not about specific bowlers but about playing according to the situation. Bowlers can have bad days and as a batsman, I need to assess which bowler to attack and when to wait. There is satisfaction in playing sensibly and doing the best for the team."

In ICC competitions, India also reached the finals of the ODI World Cup in 2005 and 2017 but failed to win the title. Harmanpreet Kaur and her team started well by winning the first practice match against West Indies by 20 runs. India will take on Australia in a Group A match in Sharjah on October 13 and Jemima said it will be important to implement the plans against the former champions.

She said, "I like playing against Australia because you have to give your best. If you want to win then there is no other option. The competition has been very tough in the last few years and it motivates us to perform our best." Jemima said, "We have prepared well and worked hard. Now the time has come for us to implement our plans."
