The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced a special provision for students in certain areas of India where Holi celebrations will take place on March 15, 2025. These students will be given an additional opportunity to appear for their 2025 board exams if they are unable to take the scheduled test on that day.
Why the Special Arrangement?
In an official statement, CBSE clarified that while Holi will be celebrated on March 14, 2025, in most parts of India, there are a few regions where celebrations will either take place on March 15 or extend into that day. Recognizing that this might pose a challenge for some students appearing for exams, the board has decided to offer a flexible alternative.
What This Means for Students?
Board exams will still be held on March 15, 2025, as scheduled.
Students in affected areas who are unable to appear for the exam on March 15 can opt out.
These students will get a second chance to take their exam at a later date.
CBSE will conduct this rescheduled exam alongside the special examinations that it typically organizes for students who miss their board exams due to participation in National or International level sports events.
CBSE’s Official Statement
"In view of the constraints that some students may face, it has been decided that while the examination would be held on March 15, 2025, those students who find it difficult to appear may opt not to take the exam on that day. Such students will be given an opportunity to appear later, alongside students appearing for special exams as per CBSE policy," the board stated.
What Should Students Do?
Students from the affected regions are advised to stay updated with further announcements from CBSE and inform their school authorities if they wish to avail this option. The board will likely release detailed guidelines on the rescheduled exam dates and procedures in due course.
This decision ensures that students do not have to compromise on either their cultural celebrations or their academic commitments, offering a fair solution for all.
