CUET UG 2025 Exam News: A big update related to the Common University Entrance Test (UG) Exam 2025 has been released. University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Jagdish Kumar has said that there will be no compulsion on the 12th subject for this exam, now students will be able to appear in the Common University Entrance Test (UG) exam with any subject. This rule will be applicable from 2025.

The exam will be computer-based

From 2025 (University Common Entrance Test – Undergraduate) CUET-UG will be conducted as a computer-based test only and students will be allowed to appear in the entrance exam in any subject, even if they have not studied that subject in class 12th.

While talking to PTI-Bhasha, Kumar said that a committee of experts constituted by the commission reviewed the examination and proposed several changes.

Kumar said, "Unlike last year's 'hybrid mode' (computer-based and answer sheet system), from 2025 the medium will be CBT (computer-based examination). We have also reduced the number of subjects from 63 to 37 and admissions for the removed subjects will be given based on marks obtained in the general ability test."

"Participants will also be allowed to choose subjects in CUET-UG that they have not studied in Class 12, thus providing students an opportunity to overcome the rigid disciplinary boundaries in higher education," he said.

Explaining the changes made in the 2025 version of the exam, Kumar said students will now be able to take CUET-UG in a maximum of five subjects instead of six. "Similarly, the duration of the exam, which used to range from 45 minutes to 60 minutes depending on the subject, has now been standardized as 60 minutes. The concept of optional questions in the exam has also been done away with and all questions will now be compulsory," the UGC chairman said.
