New Delhi: The Home Ministry has released Rs 5,858.60 crore to 14 flood-affected states as a central share from the State Disaster Relief Fund and as an advance from the National Disaster Relief Fund, according to an official statement.
How much amount was released to which state?
According to the statement, the central government has released Rs 1,492 crore to Maharashtra, Rs 1,036 crore to Andhra Pradesh, Rs 716 crore to Assam, Rs 655.60 crore to Bihar, Rs 600 crore to Gujarat, Rs 416.80 crore to Telangana and Rs 468 crore to West Bengal. These states have been affected due to excessive rainfall, floods, and landslides during the southwest monsoon this year.
How much amount has been released so far?
The statement said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the Modi government is standing shoulder to shoulder with the people of the states affected by natural disasters to reduce their difficulties. The government had sent inter-ministerial central teams to the flood-affected states of Assam, Mizoram, Kerala, Tripura, Nagaland, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Manipur to assess the damage on the spot.
Besides, inter-ministerial central teams will soon be sent to Bihar and West Bengal to assess the damage on the spot. Both these states have been affected by floods recently. It said that more than Rs 14,958 crore has been released to 21 states this year.
