Champions Trophy 2025 : If the Pakistan Cricket Board ( PCB ) decides to withdraw from the 50-over competition to be held in February-March next year due to the ongoing deadlock over the organization of the Champions Trophy, then apart from the huge loss of revenue, it may also face lawsuits and it may also be isolated from international cricket.

A senior cricket administrator involved in organizing International Cricket Council (ICC) events told PTI on Wednesday that it will not be easy for the PCB to decide to pull out of the tournament if the ICC and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) refuse to fully accept the hybrid model.

Pakistan has signed

The official said that 'Pakistan has not only signed the hosting agreement with ICC but like all other countries participating in this tournament, it has also signed the Member Participation Agreement (MPA) with ICC. Only after signing the MPA to participate in ICC tournaments, a member country is entitled to get a share in the revenue from ICC tournaments. Most importantly, ICC has signed an agreement with the broadcaster for all its tournaments in which it has guaranteed that all its member countries will participate in ICC tournaments including the Champions Trophy.'

No agreement was reached between India and Pakistan

Last week, the ICC was successful in getting an agreement to organize the Champions Trophy through a hybrid model. According to this, India will play its matches in Dubai. Apart from this, this arrangement will remain in place in ICC competitions till 2027. However, it has not been formally announced yet. If this agreement is reached, it will mean that Pakistan will not be obliged to tour India for ICC competitions till 2027.

A case may be filed against PCB.

The administrator said that if Pakistan withdraws from the Champions Trophy, the ICC and even the other 16 member countries in the ICC Executive Board can sue them. The broadcaster can also take this route as Pakistan's exit will harm all stakeholders. He also revealed that the PCB did not get solid support from other members of the Executive Board.
