Chhattisgarh Encounter: The campaign of security forces against Naxalites is continuing in Chhattisgarh. Encounters are taking place with Naxalites one after another and Naxalites are being killed. The latest encounter with Naxalites has taken place in Bijapur, where security forces have killed three Naxalites.
Encounter of Naxalites in Bijapur
Three Naxalites were killed in an encounter with security forces on Friday in Chhattisgarh's Naxal-affected Bijapur district. Bastar region's Inspector General of Police Sundarraj P said that this encounter took place in the Rekhapalli-Komathpalli forest of Usur-Basaguda-Pamed-Tarrem area of the district. Sundarraj said that on receiving information about the presence of Naxalites in the district, a joint team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)'s Cobra battalion was sent for anti-Naxal operation.
A large quantity of weapons recovered
The police officer said that when the team was in the forests of Rekhapalli-Komathpalli of the area at 11 am today, the Naxalites started firing on the security forces, after which the security forces also retaliated. He said that after the firing stopped, the bodies of three Naxalites, a self-loading rifle (SLR), a sniper weapon, a 12 bore gun, two Bharmar guns, hand grenades and locally made weapons were recovered from the spot.
192 Naxalites have been killed
The officer said that efforts are being made to identify the three uniformed male naxalites killed in the encounter. Search operations are underway in the area. Sundarraj said that with this incident, security forces have killed 192 naxalites in different encounters in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh.
Earlier, on October 4, security forces had recovered the bodies of 31 Naxalites after an encounter in a forest located on the border of Narayanpur-Dantewada districts of the region.
