New Delhi: For the second day in a row on Wednesday, key Indian equity market indices, BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50, improved their position and closed on a positive note. The BSE Sensex registered a gain of 224.45 points or 0.29 percent to conclude the session at 76,724.08. The 30-share index traded in a range of 76,991.05 and 76,479.70 during the session.
In contrast, the NSE Nifty 50 increased by 37.15 points or 0.16 percent finishing at 23,213.20. The intra-day high of the index was 23,293.65 and the low was 23,146.45.
Top Gainers And Losers
In the Nifty 50 index which comprises of 50 stocks, 27 opened in the green while the rest were in the red. Trent, NTPC, Power Grid, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Maruti Suzuki were the winners with a rise of 4.01 percent.
On the other hand, 23 stocks ended in red Mahindra & Mahindra, Bajaj Finserv, Axis Bank, Bajaj Finance, Shriram Finance being the most affected with a drop of 2.90 percent
Sectoral Performance
The performance of the sectoral indices during Wednesday’s trading session was not uniform. The performance of the Nifty IT and Realty indices was comparatively better as they gained as much as 1.39 per cent. Meanwhile, indices such as Auto, FMCG, Media, and Healthcare recorded losses of up to 1.78 percent and thus closed with negative results.
