Current Affairs Today 2024: The Indian Army celebrated Army Aviation Corps Day on 1 November. This is the 39th Army Aviation Corps Day. At the same time, the 'Garuda Shakti Exercise' is starting between India and Indonesia on November 1. Both these points are important for the students preparing for the competitive examination. Garuda Shakti exercise was led by the Parachute Regiment on behalf of India. Here the armies of both the countries practiced attacking terrorist camps. There was also the practice of modern weapons here.

This is an important joint exercise between the two countries. An Indian Army contingent of 25 personnel left for Sijantung, Jakarta, Indonesia to participate in the 9th edition of this exercise.

Purpose of Garuda Shakti exercise

According to the Ministry of Defense, this exercise is giving an opportunity to both the military contingents to strengthen their relations. Exercise Garuda Shakti-2024 aims to familiarize both sides with each other's operational procedures, and enhance mutual understanding, cooperation, and interoperability between the special forces of the two armies.

The Defence Ministry says the exercise is designed to develop bilateral military cooperation, and strengthen the relationship between the two armies through discussion and rehearsal of tactical military exercises. The exercise will include planning and implementation of special operations, orientation to advance the skills of special forces, and sharing of information on weapons, equipment, innovations, tactics, techniques, and procedures.

Date of Garuda Shakti exercise

The Defence Ministry said that this exercise between India and Indonesia will be held from November 1 to 12. The Indian contingent is being represented by soldiers of the Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) and the Indonesian contingent comprising 40 personnel is being represented by the Indonesian Special Forces Kopassus.
