A campaign is going to be launched to make Indore the world's first energy-literate city. This campaign will be launched nowhere else but in the country's cleanest city Indore. The campaign will be launched on December 1 to give this city the identity of the world's first energy-literate city.

Under this, about 35 lakh citizens will be motivated to reduce carbon emissions by changing their habits. Officials gave this information on 9 October.

Indore Climate Mission

He informed that Indore Municipal Corporation has joined hands with an NGO named Energy Swaraj Foundation for the campaign which will be launched under the name of Indore Climate Mission.

Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava told reporters that the first phase of the campaign will begin on December 1 and will run for 100 days and under this, citizens will be given proper training and motivated to reduce carbon emissions.

He said, "Our aim is to establish Indore as the world's first energy-literate city through this campaign." Professor Chetan Singh Solanki of the Mumbai-based Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) is the head of the Energy Swaraj Foundation.

Solar Man of India

Solanki, popularly known as the "Solar Man of India", said, "By adopting small habits like wearing unironed clothes and eating uncooked food just for one day in a week, we can save a lot of energy, which can lead to a major reduction in the emission of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases."

He said that under the "Indore Climate Mission", a target has been set to reduce the monthly electricity consumption in the city by seven to 10 percent.
