Amreli: The weather is very bad in the district amid rain. Five people including three children died due to lightning here on Saturday evening. An officer of the Damnagar police station said that the incident took place in Ambardi village on Saturday evening at around six o'clock. He said that the farm laborers were returning home with their children when they were struck by lightning.

The victims were rushed to a hospital where doctors declared them dead, the official said. The area witnessed heavy rains and thunderstorms during the day, he said. The deceased have been identified as Bharatiben Santhalia (35), Shilpa Santhalia (18), Rupali Vanodia (8), Riddhi (5) and Radhey (5), the official said.
Earlier, several incidents of lightning strikes have been reported in other districts of Gujarat, in which several people were reported dead.
