In West Bengal, the court has sentenced the rapist of a minor to death within just 62 days of the incident. The accused had committed the crime of rape and murder of the minor in October, after which today i.e. on 6 December, the court sentenced him to death.

Joynagar incident in West Bengal

Giving information about the case, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that on October 4, a minor girl was brutally raped and murdered in Joynagar, West Bengal. The accused in this case has been sentenced to death today by the POCSO court of Baruipur within just 62 days of this horrific incident. Conviction and death sentence in such a case in just over two months is unprecedented in the history of the state.

Mamata Banerjee congratulated

Mamata Banerjee further said, "I congratulate the state police and all those involved in the prosecution process for this outstanding achievement. The government has no tolerance towards crimes against women and will continue to ensure that justice is neither delayed nor denied."
