Delhi New CM : Aam Aadmi Party ( AAP ) has elected a new Chief Minister for Delhi. Atishi will be the new CM of Delhi. She was elected in the Legislative Party meeting. Kejriwal is scheduled to meet the Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena at 4:30 pm today. During this meeting, he will submit his resignation. It is understood that he will also submit the letter of MLAs supporting the new CM to the Lieutenant Governor. Assembly elections are to be held in Delhi in February. Kejriwal's resignation move is being linked to the elections. This decision of the AAP convenor surprised both the Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP ) and the Congress. BJP is now demanding dissolution of the Assembly, while Congress termed Kejriwal's resignation move as a 'political drama'.
Atishi has been with Kejriwal since 2013
Atishi has been working with Kejriwal since 2013. She was elected the leader of the legislative party in the meeting of the legislative party. In the meeting, Arvind Kejriwal himself proposed Atishi's name for the post of Chief Minister. The MLAs also welcomed Atishi's name. Atishi can take oath as Chief Minister this week. Atishi is among the senior leaders of Aam Aadmi Party. She is considered close to Arvind Kejriwal. After Manish Sisodia went to jail, Atishi was given many big responsibilities including the Ministry of Education. She is an MLA from Kalkaji, Delhi.
BJP's attacks were strongly defended
After Manish Sisodia and then Arvind Kejriwal went to jail in the excise case, Atishi's stature in the party and government kept on increasing. Atishi strongly defended the party leaders and Kejriwal in the BJP's attacks in the excise case and the Swati Maliwal beating case. She has worked as the Minister of Education Department of Delhi Government as well as PWD, Culture and Tourism. Atishi is considered close to Kejriwal. She has been among the early founders of the Aam Aadmi Party.
