Early Saturday morning, 19 flights were diverted and over 200 flights were delayed at Delhi airport due to poor visibility caused by dense fog, affecting operations for the second consecutive day. India's largest airline IndiGo had temporarily halted arrivals and departures at the airport early in the morning.

An official said that 19 flights were diverted at the airport between 12.15 am and 1.30 am due to low visibility. For the second consecutive morning, dense fog in Delhi reduced visibility to zero at many places, delaying 81 trains.

News agency PTI reported that more than 80 trains were running late, with the Varanasi Vande Bharat Express running 14 hours late and the New Delhi Vande Bharat Express running more than four hours late. In addition, 51 flights had to be diverted due to heavy fog in Delhi.

Airplanes may face challenges

The incident comes a day after over 400 flights were delayed due to poor visibility caused by dense fog at the national capital's airport on Friday. While landings and takeoffs continue, non-CAT III compliant aircraft may face challenges. The CAT III system enables operations in low visibility.
