Domestic Air Passenger Traffic : According to information provided by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), India's domestic air passenger traffic recorded a growth of 5.3 percent in October, rising to 1.36 crore from 1.26 crore in the same month last year. Leading airline IndiGo carried 86.40 lakh people during the month with a market share of 63.3 percent. It was followed by Tata Group's Air India and Vistara, which carried 26.48 lakh and 12.43 lakh passengers respectively. Air India, including Air India Express, recorded a market share of 19.4 percent while Vistara, now merged with Air India, had a market share of 9.1 percent.

What was the share of SpiceJet?

SpiceJet carried 3.35 lakh passengers during October, while Akasa Air carried 6.16 lakh people. The two airlines recorded a market share of 2.4percentt and 5.4 percent, respectively.

The surge in air traffic continued in November as well. According to information provided by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, 5,05,412 domestic passengers flew in a single day on November 17, crossing the 5 lakh mark for the first time.

Punctuality of airlines
