The Nifty 50 of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) opened today with a gain of 69.50 points at 25,084.10, while the Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) rose 238.83 points to 81,927.29 in early trade. Most of the indices opened in the mixed range. Apart from this, the Bank Nifty index opened with a gain of 81.15 points at 51,543.20. On the NSE Nifty 50 index, HCL Tech, ITC, Trent, Wipro, and Hero MotoCorp emerged as top gainers, while Titan Company, Hindustan Unilever, Britannia Industries, ONGC, and Maruti Suzuki India were seen trading as top losers. Sector-wise, Capital Goods, Power, Metal, Telecom, and Media are down by 1-1 percent, while buying is being seen in the Bank and IT sectors.

 

Crude oil and investor sentiment

On Monday morning, WTI crude prices are trading down by 0.36% at $74.11 while Brent crude prices are trading down by 0.47% at $77.66. According to provisional data available on NSE, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth Rs 9,896.95 crore on October 4, 2024, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 8,905.08 crore.

Asia-Pacific markets rise

Asia-Pacific markets rose the most on Monday, led by Japan's Nikkei 225, which rose nearly 2% as investors eyed central bank decisions in the region, CNBC reported. The Nikkei's gains were led by financial and consumer cyclical stocks, with names like Mizuho Financial Group and Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group among the biggest gainers on the index.

Hitachi Energy shares rose on NSE. The company will invest ₹2,000 crore in expanding capacity, portfolio, and talent base to promote sustainable energy in India. IRB Infrastructure Developers board will consider several issues in its meeting on October 9. Shares traded 1.36% lower at ₹58.88 on NSE. HDFC Life Insurance Company received a GST order from the Central GST Division, Imphal, Manipur. Shares of the company rose 0.95% to ₹715.55.
