Dubai's Emirates Airlines has banned its passengers from carrying pagers and walkie-talkies. The decision was taken after explosions involving pagers and walkie-talkies in Lebanon last month. "All passengers traveling to or transiting through Dubai are prohibited from carrying pagers and walkie-talkies in checked or cabin baggage," the airline said in a statement on its website on Friday, according to Reuters.
Prohibited items will be confiscated by Dubai Police.
Any prohibited items found will be confiscated by Dubai Police, the statement said. The Middle East's largest airline also announced that flights to Iraq and Iran will remain suspended until Tuesday, while services to Jordan will resume on Sunday. Flights to Lebanon will remain suspended until October 15 due to increased Israeli attacks against Iran-backed Hezbollah.
Let us tell you that on September 17-18, thousands of Hezbollah pagers and hundreds of radios/walkie-talkies exploded. 42 people died in these attacks while thousands were injured.
Hezbollah held Israel responsible.
Hezbollah blamed Israel for the pager explosion but Israel did not take direct responsibility for it. The pager explosions proved to be a dangerous escalation of the Israel-Lebanon conflict. After this, Israel started air strikes on Hezbollah bases in Lebanon. From September 23, Israel intensified air strikes in Lebanon. It says that this action is being taken to eliminate the Lebanese organization Hezbollah.
On September 27, Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah and several of his aides were killed in a major attack in a southern suburb of Beirut. Israel also launched a ground military operation in southern Lebanon.
On October 8, 2023, Hezbollah began firing rockets at Israel in solidarity with Hamas in Gaza. The latest developments are an extension of this conflict. According to a report by Al Jazeera on Saturday, Lebanon's Health Ministry says that so far more than 2,000 people have been killed in Israeli attacks across the country, including 127 children and 261 women.
