Duleep Trophy 2024 : Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj will not be able to play in the first round of the Duleep Trophy due to illness, while the National Selection Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has extended the rest period of veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. The National Selection Committee also made some changes in the participating teams on Tuesday.

The first round of the Duleep Trophy is scheduled to consist of two matches which will be played from September 5 to 8. India A will take on India B at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru while India C will play India D at the Rural Development Trust Stadium A in Anantapur. Siraj and Umran Malik, who were part of India's last tour of Sri Lanka, have both been ruled out of the first round matches and have been replaced by Navdeep Saini and Gaurav Yadav respectively in the competition.

The BCCI said in a release, "Both Siraj and Malik are ill and are not expected to be fit in time for the Duleep Trophy matches." The board said, "All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has also been released from Team B." Jadeja played his last competitive match in the T20 World Cup final against South Africa in June. He was rested from the ODI series in Sri Lanka.

Yadav, 32, a native of Madhya Pradesh, took 41 wickets in seven matches for Puducherry in the last season of the Ranji Trophy and was the second-highest wicket-taker in the country's premier domestic competition.

The revised teams are as follows:

India A: Shubman Gill (captain), Mayank Agarwal, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, KL Rahul, Tilak Verma, Shivam Dube, Tanush Kotian, Kuldeep Yadav, Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna, Khaleel Ahmed, Avesh Khan, Vidwat Kaverappa, Kumar Kushagra, Shashvat Rawat.

India B: Abhimanyu Easwaran (captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan, Rishabh Pant, Mushir Khan, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Navdeep Saini, Yash Dayal, Mukesh Kumar, Rahul Chahar, R Sai Kishore, Mohit Awasthi, N Jagadeeshan.

India C: Ruturaj Gaikwad (captain), Sai Sudarshan, Rajat Patidar, Abhishek Porel, Suryakumar Yadav, B Indrajit, Hrithik Shokeen, Manav Suthar, Gaurav Yadav, Vishak Vijaykumar, Anshul Khamboj, Himanshu Chauhan, Mayank Markande, Aryan Juyal, Sandeep Warrier.

India D: Shreyas Iyer (captain), Atharva Taide, Yash Dubey, Devdutt Padikkal, Ishan Kishan, Ricky Bhui, Saransh Jain, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Aditya Thakare, Harshit Rana, Tushar Deshpande, Akash Sengupta, KS Bharat, Saurabh Kumar.
