Special package for DAP companies

Among the decisions taken in today's Cabinet meeting, a special package has been approved for companies manufacturing DAP (dia-ammonium phosphate) fertilizers. This initiative includes financial assistance in addition to the existing subsidy for DAP producers.

A proposal to make the crop insurance scheme more attractive for farmers has also been approved, aimed at providing them better financial protection against losses.

DAP bag will be available for Rs 1,350

In a briefing, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the Cabinet has approved the extension of one-time special package on DAP beyond the NBS subsidy for the period from 01.01.2025 to 31.12.2025 to ensure availability of DAP to farmers at affordable prices. The budgetary requirement for this move would be Rs 3,850 crore (approx).

This Cabinet decision will ensure that farmers will continue to get Dia-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) fertiliser at the rate of Rs 1,350 for a 50 kg bag.
