Odisha: A shocking incident has come to light from Jharsuguda. The accused of raping a minor girl kidnapped the victim and brutally murdered her and chopped her body into pieces and threw it in the Brahmani river in Rourkela. The biggest thing is that the accused was on interim bail in the rape case. This incident came to light on Wednesday when Jharsuguda police brought the 24-year-old accused Kunu Kisan to Rourkela and recovered most of the body parts of the minor girl. With the help of ODRAF personnel, Rourkela police managed to recover the torso and other body parts from the river near the second Brahmani bridge in the presence of Jharsuguda police, while smaller body parts were found from the swampy bushes near the Tarkera pump house.
The deceased was missing since December 7
Western Range DIG Police Brijesh Kumar Rai said that according to preliminary information, the victim was a minor and the accused raped her in August 2023. A case was also registered against him under the POCSO Act at Dharuadihi police station in this case. The accused got interim bail in January this year and a non-bailable warrant was also issued against him. The victim was living at her aunt's house in Jharsuguda and was working in a beauty parlor in the Behramal area. She was missing since December 7. During the investigation, Jharsuguda police suspected the accused and detained him for questioning.
It seems that the accused tried to convince or pressure the victim to get relief in the POCSO case but failed and took this drastic step. According to preliminary information, after kidnapping her from Jharsuguda, the accused took her to some deserted place under Lathikata police limits in Sundargarh where he committed this heinous crime and disposed of the body parts. We are currently investigating further.
According to the information, the victim came in contact with the accused, a resident of Dampada in Lefripada block, while staying at her uncle's house. On August 26, 2023, a case was registered against the accused under the POCSO Act at Dharuadihi police station and he was later arrested. Later, he approached the High Court for relief from the case and obtained interim bail from the POCSO court of Sundargarh on January 08. Later, a non-bailable warrant was issued against him for not appearing in court. However, the police have arrested the accused, and further investigation is still going on.
