Giriraj Singh : Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Thursday targeted West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over Bangladeshi infiltration. Singh said that 'Mamata Banerjee rolls out the red carpet for Bangladeshi intruders and her nephew Abhishek Banerjee plays politics over it, this is ridiculous.' The BJP leader said that wherever illegal Bangladeshi citizens are being caught across the country, their addresses are turning out to be West Bengal. The Union Minister said that for vote bank politics, Mamata Banerjee is sheltering Rohingya Muslims and illegal Bangladeshi citizens. In fact, the Indian government has issued its response several times on the violence against minorities including Hindus in Bangladesh. The Foreign Secretary also visited Dhaka last December. Terming these diplomatic efforts as inadequate, TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee on Thursday said that the leaders of the state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) should ask their central leadership to be more vocal about the atrocities on minorities in the neighboring country. He also accused the BJP-led government at the Center of being 'relatively silent' on the incidents in Bangladesh.

Abhishek is an MP from Diamond Harbor

"The state BJP leaders, who are blaming the Trinamool Congress government for every issue and protesting, are not talking about the Narendra Modi government's inadequate response on the diplomatic front to the ongoing atrocities on Hindus and other communities in Bangladesh," the Diamond Harbour MP told reporters on the sidelines of a health programme in his constituency. He reiterated that the Trinamool Congress and the state government will abide by the Centre's decision and response on the situation in Bangladesh. "We have heard many tall talks about valour and bravery on some previous occasions, but the BJP government is relatively silent about the events taking place in Bangladesh," he said.

'Why don't you tell your government in Delhi?'

The Trinamool Congress leader said, "If BJP leaders are so conscious about the persecution of minorities here in the neighbouring country, why don't they ask their government in Delhi to respond in a proper manner. They should ask the central leadership to be more vocal about the situation in Bangladesh." Banerjee appealed to the people in the state to maintain peace and harmony and not pay heed to those who are trying to engage in violence and disrupt law and order by citing the situation in Bangladesh.
