New Universities in UP: The Uttar Pradesh Assembly has unanimously passed four bills bringing major changes in the higher education sector. Under these bills, the way has been paved for the establishment of three new private universities in the state and foreign university campuses. This initiative is a historic step towards making the state an educational hub under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Opportunity to get world class education in home state itself

Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay said that this reform in the higher education sector under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will strengthen the state's image at the national and international level. Through new universities and foreign campuses, students will get the opportunity to get world-class education in their home state itself. With the arrival of foreign universities, the students of the state will no longer have to go out, they will now get high-level education cheap and easily in their own state. He said that till now only institutions registered in Uttar Pradesh could establish universities here, but now with this new amendment bill, institutions, companies, trusts registered in any other state whose track record is also good, will be eligible to open private universities in Uttar Pradesh. If foreign universities are recognized by Uttar Pradesh by UGC, then such institutions will also be able to establish universities in Uttar Pradesh.

This bill will open the doors of new possibilities for the students of the state. This initiative of the Yogi government will make Uttar Pradesh a center of educational excellence as well as promote employment and research opportunities at the local and global level. To make higher education accessible and advanced in the state, amendment has been made in the Uttar Pradesh Private University Act, 2019 (Uttar Pradesh Act No. 12 of 2019). Under this, it has been decided to establish new universities like Vidya Vishwavidyalaya Meerut, Vivek Vishwavidyalaya Bijnor and Chandigarh Vishwavidyalaya Unnao. The establishment of these universities will not only provide students an opportunity to get quality education, but will also create new opportunities for regional development and employment.
