The Congress on Wednesday called upon Haryana voters to oust the BJP from power in the October 5 elections, saying it was a fight against "injustice and untruth". The Congress also attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that he is the leader of those who break trust and is an expert in telling lies. Urging the people of Haryana not to fall prey to the BJP's poll promises, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge claimed that the party has failed to fulfill promises made to voters in the past.

He said, "Today is the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. Mahatma Gandhi taught us the lesson of truth and non-violence. I do not want to say how much truth and how much lies are spoken by the people in power." He said in the presence of former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda and former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satyapal Malik, "Modi ji is also the leader of those who break trust. You know about many of his lies and promises."
