Let us know who those three leaders are and from where they were staking claim.
ED had taken action against these three Congress leaders
The three Congress leaders who faced an investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) ahead of the assembly elections in Haryana include Rao Dan Singh, Dharm Singh Chhokar, and Surendra Panwar.
Congress candidate lost from Mahindergarh assembly seat.
Talking about Rao Dan Singh, who is counted among the veteran leaders of Congress, he was contesting elections from the Mahendragarh assembly seat of Haryana. He was defeated by BJP candidate Kanwar Singh by 2,648 votes. Rao Dan Singh had contested elections from Mahendragarh last time and won by a huge margin. In July this year, ED had taken action against him for a scam of Rs 1,392 crore. Later, the property of his son Akshat Singh was also attached.
BJP also defeated Dharam Singh Chhokar from Samalkha
The second name in this list is Dharam Singh Chhokar, who was contesting elections from Samalkha. He was defeated by BJP candidate Manmohan Bhadana by a margin of 19,315 votes. In July this year, the ED team raided the premises of Congress leader Dharam Singh Chhokar in a case related to 1500 flats in Gurugram. Later, the ED team seized many important documents. Not only this, Chhokar's son was also arrested by the ED.
Surendra Pawar also had to face a crushing defeat from the Sonipat seat
Apart from this, the third Congress leader on the radar of ED was Surendra Panwar. He contested the election from the Sonipat assembly seat of Haryana on a Congress ticket, but he too had to face defeat like Rao Dan Singh and Dharam Singh Chhokar. He was defeated by BJP candidate Nikhil Madan by 29,627 votes.
ED had also taken action against Surendra Panwar in July this year. This action was taken on the basis of FIR registered in the case of illegal mining. After this, the central agency raided his residence and arrested Surendra Panwar from Sonipat. However, the Punjab and Haryana High Court declared his arrest illegal, paving the way for his release.
