Hemant Soren : JMM leader Hemant Soren met Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar on Sunday and staked a claim to form the government. He will take oath as Chief Minister on November 28. Earlier in the day, the leaders of the All India Alliance in the state unanimously elected Hemant Soren as the leader of the legislative party. After this, Soren reached the Raj Bhavan with other leaders and resigned from the post of Chief Minister. Along with this, he also staked a claim to form the government.

Speaking to reporters after meeting Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Soren said, “I have staked claim to form the government and submitted the letter of support of alliance partners to the Governor. He has invited us to form the government. The swearing-in ceremony will take place on November 28. It is believed that Hemant Soren may take oath as Chief Minister along with 10 ministers.”

Won for the second time in a row

Hemant Soren's JMM-led alliance on Saturday won a landslide victory in Jharkhand, securing power for the second consecutive term. The 'India' alliance won 56 seats in the 81-member assembly. However, the BJP-led NDA got a massive 24 seats. 41 seats are needed for a majority in the state assembly. Soren will take oath as the 14th Chief Minister of Jharkhand. Jharkhand was formed on 15 November 2000.
