Parliament News : Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned indefinitely on Friday during the winter session of Parliament which witnessed a lot of uproar over the introduction of the 'One Country-One Election' bill and several other issues. Despite the deadlock on several issues, the productivity of work was 57.87 percent.

After the proceedings of the House began at 11 am, Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal proposed to send the 'Constitution (129th Amendment) Bill, 2024' and the related 'Union Territory Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024', which provides for holding Lok Sabha and Assembly elections simultaneously in the country, for consideration of the Joint Committee of Parliament. The House approved this proposal by voice vote. After this, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, citing the alleged scuffle between the ruling party and opposition members in the Parliament premises on Thursday, said that it is everyone's collective responsibility to ensure the decorum and dignity of Parliament.
He said that there should be no dharna-protest inside any gate and premises of the Parliament and if this happens then appropriate action will be taken. After this, Birla asked to play the tune of the national song 'Vande Mataram'. After the tune of 'Vande Mataram', he adjourned the meeting of the House indefinitely. During the session, 20 meetings of the Lok Sabha were held, which lasted for 62 hours and the productivity was 57.87 percent.
A bill related to 'One Country-One Election' was introduced in this session
During the session, five government bills were introduced and four bills were passed in the Lok Sabha. 182 matters of urgent public importance were raised during Zero Hour and 397 matters were raised under Rule 377. Congress MPs Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Ravindra Chavan took oath during this session. In this session, the government introduced the 'One Country-One Election' bill, which was opposed by almost all opposition parties. Later it was sent for consideration of the Joint Committee of Parliament.
From the beginning of the session on November 25, the Congress and its allies created a ruckus over the allegations related to Adani, the violence in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh and some other issues and the proceedings of the House were disrupted for several days. The proceedings of the session proceeded after the government agreed to discuss the 75 glorious journey of the Constitution. Prime Minister Narendra Modi responded to the two-day discussion on the Constitution in the Lok Sabha. The Lok Sabha approved the first batch of supplementary demands for grants for the year 2024-25 and the related Appropriation (No. 3) Bill, 2024.
These bills were passed in the Lok Sabha
During the session, the Lok Sabha passed the 'Railway (Amendment) Bill, 2024', 'Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024', 'Disaster Management (Amendment) Bill, 2024'. The government introduced the Commercial Shipping Bill, 2024 in the Lok Sabha in this session, which has provisions for expanding international trade opportunities, increasing eligibility criteria for ownership of ships and increasing Indian tonnage. During this session, members raised many issues of public importance in the lower house and among them the issue of atrocities against the Hindu community and other minorities in Bangladesh was most resonant. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Trinamool Congress members urged the government to take necessary steps to ensure the safety of minorities in Bangladesh.
Electronic medium was used in the division of votes in the House to introduce the bill related to 'One Country-One Election'. This was the first time that electronic voting took place in the new Parliament House.
