Times Drive Green Conclave & Awards 2024 : The problem of pollution in Delhi is serious. Ghazipur landfill also has a role in increasing this pollution but we have found a solution for it as well. We are working on the 'Waste to Wealth' scheme. First methane and then hydrogen are being made from municipal waste. The Union Minister said that we plan to run public transport vehicles with municipal waste. This will reduce pollution in Delhi. Gadkari said these things at the prestigious 'Times Drive Green Conclave and Awards 2024 ceremony of the Times Group.

"...I feel guilty seeing this."

Gadkari said in a sarcastic tone that 'You are already enjoying Delhi's pollution so I don't need to talk about it.' Describing Delhi's pollution as 'a really big problem', the Union Minister said that 'he feels guilty seeing that 40 percent of the country's air pollution is caused by vehicles. This is because the Transport Ministry is under him.' The Union Minister said that the country buys fossil fuel worth Rs 22 lakh crore every year. This fossil fuel further increases pollution. Therefore, we must move towards biofuel and other sources of energy.

The economy has to move forward on clean energy - Gadkari.

The Union Minister said that we have to find an alternative to fossil energy. At the same time, we have to move our economy forward on clean energy. We have to convert all kinds of waste related to agriculture, such as stubble, into wealth. Diversity is being brought into the agriculture sector by linking it with technology. To move towards green energy, today ethanol is being made from sugarcane juice, food grains, and rice.

'Green mobility and green energy are the future of the country'

Gadkari said that fuel is being made from waste by buying straws in Panipat. Our ministry was going to implement Euro-6 emission standards. This would have increased the price of tractors by one lakh rupees but we found an alternative. In the future, we plan to bring electric tractors and CNG tractors. The cost of running electric buses is coming Given this, some companies are working towards making electric trucks. Green mobility and green energy are the future of the country.

'Times Drive achieves milestone'

Earlier, Times Network COO and President Rohit Chadda said that Times Drive has achieved a milestone in the field of automobiles. India has emerged as a major hub in the world in the field of auto sector and electric vehicles (EV). This revolutionary initiative in green mobility cannot happen without strong-willed political leadership. This commendable work has been done by Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari.
