New Delhi: The Indian government has given a big blow to the Pakistan Cricket Board which is preparing to host the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. According to a report by Sports Tak, the Indian government has refused to allow the BCCI to allow the Indian team to tour Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. The Indian government's decision may also spoil the PCB's hopes of hosting the Champions Trophy. The Pakistan Cricket Board made every possible effort to ensure the Indian team's participation in the Champions Trophy, but it ultimately seems to be failing. However, no official announcement has been made in this regard by the Indian government or the BCCI.
No PCB pulses
When India's Foreign Minister S Jaishankar went to Pakistan to attend the meeting of the ICC, a lot of efforts were made through him to persuade the Indian government to allow the Indian team to tour Pakistan. But in the end, the PCB's efforts failed. Now there is a possibility of Pakistan losing the hosting rights because if the Indian team does not participate in the tournament, the broadcaster will suffer huge losses and hence it is likely to withdraw. The ICC is also already working on options to shift the tournament from Pakistan.
There was a plan to release the schedule next week.
An ICC team is arriving in Pakistan to take stock of the preparations for the Champions Trophy. The ICC team will inspect all three venues between 10 and 12 November and submit its report. It was believed that after the inspection work was completed, the ICC could release the official schedule of the tournament, but now it does not seem to be happening. After the Indian government refused to send the Indian team on the Pakistan tour, all the equations have changed. In such a situation, the possibility of organizing the tournament on a hybrid model has become strong.
