IND vs AUS 5th Test Match, Sachin Tendulkar Statement : The Indian top order once again failed to give the team a solid start, with Rishabh Pant batting on 59/3 on the second day of the final Test and hitting the fastest half-century by a visiting batsman on Australian soil.

Pant scored 61 runs off 33 balls with the help of six fours and four sixes, which India's legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar termed as truly remarkable. Tendulkar posted on Instagram, "On a wicket where most batsmen have batted at an SR of 50 or less, Rishabh Pant's innings with an SR of 184 is truly remarkable. Pant reached his half-century off 29 balls with a six off Mitchell Starc. He bettered the previous efforts of 33 balls made by England's John Brown (Melbourne 1895) and West Indies' Roy Fredericks (Perth 1975). It was also the second-fastest half-century by an Indian batsman in a Test match.

Pant also holds the record for the fastest half-century by an Indian batsman in a Test match, which he achieved in 28 balls against Sri Lanka in Bengaluru in 2022.

The wicketkeeper-batsman's innings was eventually ended by Australia captain Pat Cummins with the ball ending up in the hands of Alex Carey behind the stumps. Pant scored 61 runs in 33 balls with the help of four sixes and six fours. He also shared a crucial 46-run partnership with Ravindra Jadeja, which took India's total past the three-digit mark.

India were 141/6 at stumps and would be hoping that Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar, who remained unbeaten at stumps, add some crucial runs before the team comes to defend the modest total.
