IND vs AUS : Australian wicketkeeper Alex Carey is confident that fast bowler Mitchell Starc will be fit to play in the fifth Test. The left-arm fast bowler suffered from rib pain during the Boxing Day Test. Australia won this Test by 184 runs. Starc played the Boxing Day Test battling rib and back pain and later underwent a scan as a precaution. In the current series, he has bowled a total of 131.2 overs in four Test matches against India.

Carey told reporters on Wednesday, "He is one of the strongest cricketers. He stays on the field despite the pain. But he will be ready for the fight." Although Starc took only one wicket in the fourth Test, it was Virat Kohli's wicket in India's second innings, which was very important. Carey praised his bowling and said, "Even though he did not get many wickets in the first spell, it was his best bowling in this series. Now he has a great opportunity to win the Test for the team, and he is fully prepared for it."

It usually rains during the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) Test, but this year the weather is a little better. There is a possibility of light rain on the fourth and fifth day. Talking about the pitch, Carey said, "This wicket looks like a good Test match pitch. It can help the bowlers in the beginning. There is a good coverage of grass on it."

Australia is currently leading the series 2-1 and they just need a draw to win this Border-Gavaskar Trophy after 10 years. On the other hand, India will have to win in Sydney to save the series. Carey further said, "We cannot think too far ahead. India is a very strong team and they have great players and legends of Test cricket. Our team's focus is only on the next match. If we win the trophy then it will be great." The fifth and final Test of the series will start on Friday at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
