Kanpur: The Green Park curator said on Wednesday that the pitch for the second Test between India and Bangladesh will be ideal, assisting pacers in the first two sessions and spinners in the last three days. The second Test starts on Friday. "It will have the same feel as the Chennai match. There will be something for everyone. There will be bounce in the first two sessions and it will be good for batting in the first two days. Then, spinners will play a key role in the last three days," curator Shiv Kumar told PTI.
Pitch soil has been ordered from Unnao
India defeated Bangladesh by 280 runs in the first Test in Chennai. The black soil for the Green Park pitch has been brought from a village near Unnao, which is 23 km from Kanpur. Pitches made of black soil traditionally favor spinners while red soil favors fast bowlers. The pitch is expected to be on the slow side.
IIT Kanpur does soil testing
An official of the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) said, 'We get this soil tested from the Indian Institute of Technology. This is a special soil which is black soil found near a pond in the village. We have been bringing black soil from the village for years.'
Plastic will be used less during the match
The UPCA has decided to reduce the use of plastic significantly during the second Test to keep the environment clean. The UPCA has banned plastic plates for serving 'snacks' inside the stadium and only paper plates will be allowed.
Stadium director Sanjay Kapoor said, 'This is a match to be held at Green Park and we are trying to make it a 'green' match. We have decided to use as little plastic as possible.'
