ITC demerger record date: January 6, 2025

ITC had announced the splitting of its hotels business into a separate listed company in August 2023. Under the plan, ITC will retain 40 per cent stake, while the remaining 60 per cent will be distributed to the shareholders of ITC Hotels Limited (ITCHL). The company has fixed January 6, 2025 as the record date, which will determine which investors will be entitled to ITC Hotels shares.

Will you get ITC Hotels shares if you buy them on January 6?

The record date is the date when the company examines its register of shareholders to determine which investors will receive the benefit. The ex-date is the date when the shares begin trading on the stock exchange without the benefit of corporate action. Since the record date and ex-date are the same day on January 6, 2025, if you buy ITC shares before this day, you will receive shares of ITC Hotels.

ITC shares closed at Rs 478.90 on Friday, December 29, and the company's market cap stood at Rs 5,99,185.81 crore.

ITC demerger ratio: Shareholders will get 1 share in exchange of 10 shares

To get ITC Hotels shares, eligible shareholders will get one ITC Hotels share in exchange for 10 ITC shares. This significant demerger ratio makes it clear that ITC investors can get a good profit if they hold their shares before January 6, 2025.
