Kanpur News : The director of a private hospital in Kanpur allegedly raped a 22-year-old nurse. It is suspected that the nurse was given a soft drink laced with intoxicants before the rape. An FIR has been registered and the accused has been arrested. Kalyanpur Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Abhishek Pandey said that the woman had been working as a nurse in a private hospital in Kalyanpur for the past few months.

The police officer said that on Sunday evening she attended a party hosted by the director at the hospital. The accused asked her to stay overnight at the hospital on the pretext of official work, around midnight he called her to his room and forcibly pulled her in, and locked the door, the ACP said.

The accused was arrested.

Another official, requesting anonymity, said, the director allegedly raped the nurse after holding her hostage. The accused also threatened to kill the nurse if she told anyone about the incident, the official said. The police have not yet revealed the identity of the accused. After his arrest, he was produced in court. The official said the victim will undergo a medical examination and will be produced in court to record her statement before a magistrate.
