New Delhi: Indian government has proven that it has advanced in the sectors of new and renewable energy as in 2024, a record of thirty gigawatts of energy was added, a massive increase from the 13.75 gigawatts recorded in the year 2023, as per the data collected by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
This is of great importance because India’s target of having domestic renewable energy of 500 gigawatts by the year of 2030, and in order to achieve this goal, India will need to supply a total of 50 gigawatts of renewable energy each year for the coming six years.
As stated by the Minister Of New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi “Exponential growth from 13.75 GW in 2023 to around 30 GW in 2024, resulting in achieving nearly 218 GW now underscores India's growing commitment to clean energy and its progress in building a greener future,”
As per the data provided by the ministry, the amount of renewable energy capacity provided by India reached 35.84 GW on the date March 31, in the year 2014.
India recorded it highest renewable capacity of 18.48 in 2023-2024, the maximum addition that was done since the fiscal year of 2014-2015 when the NDA government took charge of the center.
The authorities are looking for supplementary 50 gigawatts of renewable energy each year in order to meet their goal of 500 gigawatts by the year 2030.
