Indian fast bowler Arundhati Reddy has been reprimanded by the ICC during her second match of the T20 World Cup against Pakistan. She has been accused of violating Level 1 of the Code of Conduct. She was found to have violated Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct with Players and Player Support Personnel, which is “using abusive language, or gestures, when a batsman is dismissed during an International Match”.
The incident happened in the last over of the first innings, when Reddy pointed toward the pavilion after dismissing Nida Dar. India eventually won the match by six wickets. In this match, Reddy gave the best performance of her career. She took 3 wickets for 19 runs and became the Player of the Match.
Reddy was reprimanded by the ICC for breaching its Code of Conduct and was also given a demerit point on his disciplinary record, his first such offense in 24 months.
Reddy admitted the offense and accepted the sanction proposed by the ICC International Panel of Match Referees Shandre Fritz, so there will be no need for a formal hearing. The minimum penalty for a Level 1 breach is an official reprimand, the maximum penalty is 50 percent of the player's match fee and one or two demerit points.
