Blind T20 World Cup 2024 : The Sports Ministry on Tuesday approved the 17-member Indian cricket team to tour Pakistan to participate in the Blind T20 World Cup but it is yet to get the green signal from the Home and External Affairs Ministries. The fourth Blind World Cup will be played in Lahore and Multan from November 22 to December 3. India is the defending champion of this tournament. After getting approval from the concerned ministries, the Indian team will travel to Pakistan via Wagah Border on November 21.
The blind team has got permission to tour Pakistan at a time when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has informed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that its team cannot tour Pakistan for next year's Champions Trophy. The BCCI has written a letter to the International Cricket Council (ICC) in this regard, due to which the organization of the Champions Trophy has been put in limbo.
These teams will participate.
Meanwhile, Indian Blind Cricket Association's general secretary Shailendra Yadav said, "Our team is practicing in Gurugram. The players are now waiting for the no objection certificate from the Ministry of External Affairs and they are hopeful of a positive decision." Apart from India and Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, South Africa, Nepal, and Sri Lanka will participate in the Blind World Cup. India is the three-time champion of this tournament. It has defeated Pakistan twice and Bangladesh once in the final.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council said that whether the Indian team participates or not, the tournament will be held as per the pre-scheduled schedule. Council President Syed Sultan Shah said that 'Pakistan will organize the tournament as per the pre-scheduled schedule. Whether the Indian team participates or not, it will not make any difference to the event. Other teams participating in the tournament have confirmed that they have no problem playing in Pakistan.'
