Lucknow: Abhimanyu Easwaran's unbeaten 151-run knock helped the Rest of India bounce back against Mumbai on the third day of the Irani Cup on Thursday. In reply to Mumbai's 537, the Rest of India was 289/4 at stumps on Thursday and still trailed by 248 runs.
Abhimanyu Ishwar played a brilliant century innings.
Mumbai scored 537 runs in the first innings thanks to Sarfaraz Khan's record-breaking innings of 222 runs. The Rest of India team responded to this huge score quite strongly. Bengal batsman Abhimanyu Easwaran, who has been in great form since the Duleep Trophy, played an unbeaten innings of 151 runs on the third day of the Irani Cup, due to which the Rest of India team has scored 251 runs at the loss of four wickets.
When the second day's play ended, Mumbai had scored 536 runs for the loss of nine wickets, which included Sarfaraz's historic double century.
Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad lost his wicket cheaply
When the innings of the Rest of India started, they got the first blow in the form of Rituraj Gaikwad at a score of just 40. When Rituraj was playing at a personal score of 9, Junaid Khan got him caught by Prithvi Shaw. After this, Easwaran had a good partnership with Sai Sudarshan. But, wickets kept falling at regular intervals. However, the fall of wickets did not affect Easwaran and he was continuously scoring runs, continuing his rhythm of Duleep Trophy.
