A shocking video circulating online shows an Iranian woman stripping naked and climbing onto a police car, seemingly in protest against the Islamic Republic’s stricter penalties for women who refuse to fully cover up.

The footage, reportedly filmed in Mashhad, Iran’s second-largest city, captures the woman standing on the hood of a police vehicle, shouting at armed officers. Shared by Iranian journalist and activist Masih Alinejad, the video shows her moving to the windshield, sitting with her legs apart, and continuing her protest. One armed officer appears hesitant to intervene. The clip ends with the woman raising her arms and shouting defiantly.

According to report, the woman’s husband has stated that she is now receiving medical care. However, her bold actions are widely interpreted as a response to Iran’s increasingly strict dress code enforcement.

In December, Iranian lawmakers passed the controversial "chastity and hijab" law, which imposed severe punishments on women and girls who exposed their hair, arms, or legs. The law faced global backlash, with human rights groups like Amnesty International condemning it as an attempt to "entrench an already suffocating system of repression." Following international pressure, the bill was suspended, though it originally proposed heavy fines and up to 15 years in prison for repeat offenders.
