Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has openly celebrated the rise of right-leaning leaders across the globe, including US President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) 2025 in Washington, Meloni criticized the global liberal network for its double standards in reacting to the success of conservative leaders.
Meloni Slams the "Global Leftist Liberal Network"
Meloni pointed out how former US President Bill Clinton and former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair were once praised for building a liberal global network in the 1990s, while today, leaders like Trump, Modi, and herself are labeled as threats to democracy.
Meloni stated:
"When Bill Clinton and Tony Blair created the global leftist liberal network in the 90s, they were called statesmen. Today, when Trump, Meloni, Milei, or maybe Modi talk, they are called a threat to democracy. This is the Left's double standard."
Her remarks highlight what she sees as bias in the media and political circles, where conservative victories are met with criticism, while left-leaning leadership is celebrated.
Why Are Conservative Leaders Winning? Meloni Explains
According to Meloni, despite the attacks from media and political opponents, conservatives continue to win elections because people no longer believe the "lies" spread by the Left.
She explained:
"People are not naive as The Left considers them. They vote for us because we defend freedom, we love our nations, we want secure borders, we preserve businesses and citizens from green leftist insanity. We defend family and life, we fight against wokeism, we protect our sacred right to our faith and free speech, and we stand for common sense."
Meloni’s speech was met with enthusiasm from conservative leaders and attendees at CPAC 2025, as she aligned herself with a growing movement of right-wing leaders rejecting progressive ideologies.
Meloni Praises Trump, Warns the Left is “Nervous”
Meloni also took a strong stance in support of President Trump and US Vice President JD Vance, while criticizing elites and left-wing leaders.
She said:
"The Left is nervous, and with Trump's victory, their irritation has turned into hysteria—not only because conservatives are winning but because conservatives are collaborating globally."
She also dismissed speculation that Trump may distance himself from European conservatives, expressing confidence in their alliance.
"Our adversaries hope that President Trump will move away from us, but knowing him as a strong and effective leader, I bet that those who hope for divisions will be proven wrong."
What’s Next for Global Conservatism?
With leaders like Trump, Modi, Milei, and Meloni gaining ground, the global political landscape is shifting towards nationalism, border security, and traditional values. Meloni’s speech at CPAC 2025 reflects a coordinated effort among conservative leaders to push back against left-wing narratives and policies.
As the 2025 political stage unfolds, it remains to be seen how this global conservative alliance will shape policies, economies, and governance worldwide.
